I never understood the importance of having a life insurance policy until my daughter came to live with me. When it was just me and my husband, the only life insurance policy I was worried about was the one he had your his job. If something were to happen to him while he was on the job site, this policy would help me pay for his funeral expenses and perhaps some of my bills. It was not something that would have made me a lot of money, but it would have been all that I needed.

Hopefully we will never have to use his life insurance policy. I canít imagine that any amount of money would replace a spouse. However, it is important that everyone has a life insurance policy, especially if they have a young family. If something were to happen to one of the main breadwinners in the family, that family would indeed suffer for quite a while after that personís death. The best you can hope for is that you pay on a life insurance policy for the rest of your life and never have to use it.

If you cannot get a life insurance policy through your current employer, you should go out and find one on your own. If you visit any insurance company they will be able to tell you what is available to you, and you should be able to find something that you can afford. You may think that paying any amount money for a life insurance policy is a waste, but your family will not think so in the event that something happens to you. We all want to live forever, but the reality is that we wonít. And in some cases, life is much shorter than we ever imagined.

Once you have a good life insurance policy, make sure you keep up-to-date with your payments. The last thing you want is to lapse on a few payments and then have something happen where the policy is canceled. You never know what will happen any given moment, and if your policy happens to be canceled at the wrong time, you will have paid a lot of money for nothing. Buying a life insurance policy forces you to face things that you may not want to think about, but you have to put your own hesitation in fear aside and think of those you love.
